With President-Elect Donald Trump’s shocking win and the ever increasing voice of white supremacy groups, comes an onslaught of racist comments which has gotten several Americans to stop and think. Does the slogan Make America Great Again’ entail an ethnic cleansing of the region? Are a hidden majority of Americans racist?
White supremacists believe that white people are superior to all races and the overwhelming response of the United States hints that no matter how culturally diverse America is, it is predominantly a white nationalist country. Directly after Trump rose to presidency, a hidden majority of voters who felt threatened by the racial diversity of the nation had voted for Trump to embark on this racial cleansing. Racial slurs began in everyday life from spray painting offensive words on cars owned by African Americans to physical assault of men, women and children of non-white descent.
While racism was definitely never invisible in America, and quite frankly, racism is never invisible anywhere, a huge number of rural, white American men and women gave voice to their dream of a purely white America. The number of racist attacks has increased with White supremacists acting extremely hostile against other races, even though the victim is often an American citizen.
The first warning sign came when Trump’s racists comments became so well received. Trump was going to deport immigrants, build a wall to separate Mexico, racially profile Muslims – suddenly Trump supporters grew like wild fire. Why is this racial discrimination so appealing to such a vast majority of voters? Is it because the deep racism of the past generations have been secretly harbored and nurtured inside select segments of Americans? Is it because they are not open minded? Or is it because they are blinded by their dream of a white America to even believe that cultural diversity does the country good.
President-Elect Trump has already commenced building his wall. He has built the wall of racial division inside America. Americans are no longer blind to someone’s race and diversity. They see it, they hate it and sadly, they want to get rid of it.
